Novato Community Hospital Awarded $75K Moore Foundation Grant
Novato Community Hospital is among eight Bay Area hospitals awarded grants by the Moore Foundation to participate in the second year of the nationally recognized University of California Integrated Nursing Leadership Program.
The 18-month program is pairing 10 nurses from the NCH medical/surgical unit with mentors to develop skills to become team leader/charge nurses.
Participating nurses also receive intensive team building and leadership training from the UCSF Integrated Nurse Leadership Program. Hospital teams are involved in a series of four intensive, two-day offsite education programs that walk them through a strategic planning and implementation process.
“The intent is to make this a more responsible, inclusive role within the leadership team,” says Vicki White, RN, MS, NCH Assistant Administrator. “We believe that any improvement in the culture of safety and evidence-based practice of care begins with a shared vision and clearly established expectations for accountability among and between team members and leadership.”
“We believe this undertaking will set the foundation for achieving important patient care goals for Novato Community Hospital,” says project co-leader, Robert Burns, RN, MA, Manager, NCH Medical Surgical Services.
